Book Talk and author signing with Dr. Leslie Reese,

Author of Rancho Los Alamitos:  People who shaped the land (2026)

Presented by the Board of Cultural Arts (BOCA)

Beginning with the Tongva People, the original stewards for 5,000 years of the land our church sits on, this book beautifully tells the stories of many of the people who shape the land in and around Rancho Los Cerritos, the birthplace of Long Beach.  The stories also include Mexican rancheros, Chinese cooks, humble tenants of the Rancho, people whose names are found on streets throughout Long Beach, and the Bixby family, who were founding members of First Congregational church of Long Beach.
